In the 2024 NBA Draft Lottery, sponsored by State Farm, held at the McCormick Place Convention Centre in Chicago, the Atlanta Hawks emerged victorious.
The NBA Draft 2024 presented by State Farm, which takes place on Wednesday, June 26 (First Round) at Barclays Centre in Brooklyn, New York, and Thursday, June 27 (Second Round) at ESPN's Seaport District Studios in New York, will see the Hawks selected with the first overall choice.

The Hawks, who finished 36-46 and ranked 10th in the Eastern Conference, struck gold despite a just 3% chance. They were defeated by the Chicago Bulls in the opening round of the So-Fi Play-In Tournament after dropping their last six regular-season games.
"It was a shock," said general manager Landry Fields, who smiled from ear to ear as deputy commissioner Mark Tatum proclaimed the Hawks' victory. Between the hours of ten and twelve, someone realised that something specific wasn't working for them or wasn't going according to plan. Even with that realisation, it ultimately worked to their advantage as they were able to improve their ranking—possibly in a competitive setting where finishing in the "top four" is important. In other words, they had a positive turning point when they realised what wasn't working. Alright, we really have a chance at winning this, I thought to myself. Lots of excitement mixed with a hint of surprise.
